Wisner-Pilger Art Trip 2017
Last Wednesday, Wisner-Pilger High School students in Mr. Hughes’ art class took a trip to Omaha to explore classical and modern art and learn more about working in an art studio. Their first stop was the Joslyn Art Museum, where they took a guided tour of famous works by various artists including Grant Wood and Dale Chihuly, and then explored the travelling exhibit that focused on nature and hunting in art.
They continued the tradition of eating at Spaghetti Works for lunch, and then went on to visit the gallery of Jun Kaneko, a world-renowned Omaha artist. It was a highlight to see and touch Kaneko’s iconic larger-than-life face sculptures and see the art of other talented sculptors. The group also visited the photography studio of Andrew Baran, who answered questions about being a professional artist. It was a fun and informative trip for students interested in all aspects of art.
