Choose What’s Right!  Change What Isn’t!

The Choose What’s Right!  Change What Isn’t! Program, provides students with the skills necessary to interact and communicate with others effectively.  We are proud of our students’ progress and their ability to apply the skills to their daily lives.  We would like to thank parents for your continued support!

As we conclude the 2009-10 School Year, let’s continue to emphasize the following skills for our students:  including everyone, excluding no one, encouragement, friendship, tone of voice, greetings, eye contact, listening, facial expression, body language/posture, compliments, personal space, tattling/reporting, self-advocating, apologizing, accepting apologies, managing self/responsibility/organization, agree to disagree, escalating vs. de-escalating, and facial expression/body language.

Last Day of School

The last day of school has been scheduled for Wednesday, May 26.  Students will be dismissed at the following times: 

            Middle School        11:40 a.m.

            Elementary             11:45 a.m.

            Jr.-Sr. High             12:00 p.m.

Band Night

Band Night for new band students in grades 4-6 has been scheduled for Thursday, May 20 beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the Jr.-Sr. High School Band Room.  Any questions, please contact Mr. Larry Jones, Band Director, at 529-3249.

Elementary/Middle School Track and Field Night

The Elementary/Middle School Track and Field Night has been scheduled for Monday, May 17 at the   Jr.-Sr. High School Track.  Registration will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the events beginning at 6:00 p.m.  All parents and guests are welcome to attend.

Elkhorn Valley Arts Unlimited:  Missoula Children’s Theatre

Elkhorn Valley Arts Unlimited is sponsoring the Missoula Children’s Theatre during the week of July      19-24, 2010 in the Fine Arts at the Jr.-Sr. High School.  This year the production is a full scale musical of “Treasure Island”, with 50-60 of our local students making up the cast.  Parents, please encourage your child/children to participate in this unique and educational project.  Please direct any questions, to Jeanette Vahle at 528-3407 or Jackie Delmont at 528-7272. 

Field Trips

Third grade students will participate in a field trip to the Duhram Museum in Omaha on Monday, May 3.  Pilger students will depart from the Middle School at 7:40 a.m.  The bus will then depart from the Elementary at 8:15 a.m. and return to the Elementary by 3:15 p.m. 

Second grade students will participate in a field trip to the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha on Friday, May 7.  Pilger students will depart from the Middle School at 7:40 a.m.  The second grade class will then depart from the Elementary at 8:05 a.m.  Students will return to the Elementary by 5:00 p.m. and the Middle School by 5:15 p.m.  Classroom teachers will provide specific information regarding the field trip at a later date.

Fifth grade students will participate in a field trip to Sioux City on Tuesday, May 11.  Pilger fifth grade students will depart from the Middle School at 7:40 a.m. on Mr. Sateren’s bus.  The fifth grade class will then depart from the Elementary for the field trip at 8:05 a.m.  Students will return to the Elementary by 3:30 p.m.  Pilger fifth grade students will return to the Middle School by 3:55 p.m.  Classroom teachers will provide specific information regarding the field trip at a later date. 

Fourth Grade Orientation

Fourth grade students will be attending the sixth grade graduation in the Middle School gym on Thursday, May 20 beginning at 2:30 p.m.  Prior to the graduation, fourth grade students will participate in an orientation of the Middle School beginning at 12:30 p.m.  Students will begin the orientation with lunch at 12:30 p.m. followed by a tour of the facility and an orientation by the fifth grade classroom teachers. 

Fourth grade students from Pilger will be dismissed from the Middle School upon conclusion of the school day.  Wisner fourth grade students and Wisner/Pilger Bus Route students will depart from the Middle School at 3:10 p.m. 

Gator Fun and Field Day

The Gator Fun and Field Day has been scheduled for Wednesday, May 5 (rain date to be scheduled) beginning at 12:00 p.m. in the Dinklage Park in Wisner.  At approximately 12:30 p.m., students will participate in fun, non-competitive activities throughout the afternoon.  Parents are welcome to observe.

If the weather does not cooperate, the Alert Now System will be used to inform parents and students of the rescheduled date. 

The School will provide a sack lunch for each student.  Students may bring a drink of choice for the picnic.  If the students wish, milk will be provided for them.

Lost and Found

Several articles of lost clothing, boots, etc. have been returned to the office.  If your child is missing any winter clothing, etc., please claim them by contacting the Elementary or Middle School Office.  All items in the Lost and Found at the conclusion of the school year will be sent to Good Will.

Report Cards

Report cards and school schedules will be sent home with students on the last day of school.

School Board of Education Meeting

The May School Board of Education meeting has been scheduled for Monday, May 3 beginning at 8:00 p.m. at the Jr.-Sr. High School. 

School Picnic

Elementary/Middle School students will participate in class picnics on Tuesday, May 25.  Sack lunches will be provided. 

School Year Information

Information regarding your child’s homeroom teacher for the 2010-2011 school year, schedules, bus schedules, etc. will be sent home with students on the last day of school.  Please contact David Ludwig if you should have any questions. 

Sixth Grade Graduation

All parents, grandparents, etc. are cordially invited to attend the Sixth Grade Graduation on Thursday, May 20 beginning at 2:30 p.m. in the Middle School gym. 

Terra Nova Achievement Test Scores

The Terra Nova Achievement Test scores will be sent home with students on Tuesday, May 25.  If you would like assistance with interpreting scores, please contact your child’s teacher or David Ludwig at the Elementary (529-6465) or the Middle School (396-3566). 

Vocal/Instrumental Concerts

The Elementary Spring Vocal Concert for Grades K-4 has been scheduled in the Fine Arts Auditorium at the Jr.-Sr. High School on Tuesday, May 11 beginning at 6:15 p.m. for grades K-2 and at 7:30 p.m. for grades 3-4. 

The Spring Vocal/Instrumental Concert for Grades 5-6 has been scheduled for Tuesday, May 18 beginning at 6:15 p.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium at the Jr.-Sr. High School. 

Students will practice in the Fine Arts Auditorium on the day of the concert.  All students will need to arrive to the Fine Arts Auditorium 15-30 minutes prior to the beginning of their scheduled concert.
