Students Dontate to "Kids Against Hunger"

The Wisner-Pilger Student Council recently sponsored a funder raiser to help the people of Haiti.  After collecting over $680, the Students Council chose to donate the funds to "Kids Against Hunger", a humanitarian food-aid organization.

On Wednesday, February 3, the World Regional Geography class was given the honor of presenting the check at the "Kids Against Hunger" Norfolk location.  The group spent time learning about world hunger and the special needs of the earthquake victims in Haiti.  In addition, they were given the opportunity to work in assembly line fashion to physically assemble meals for shipment.  After working non-stop for one hour, they boxed 15 cases of the complete meals and were informed that would feed 3,140 people.  These cases will be part of a shipment going to Haiti next week.

Kids Against Hunger is a volunteer organization and estimate that each meal costs approximately 10 cents.  This is the second year that the World Regional Geography class has worked to bag the rice meals.  They were accompanied by Kate Trindle and Chris Uttecht.
