Gators Represented at the State Speech Meet
March 22, 2010
The Wisner-Pilger speech team wrapped up the 2010 season with an 8th place state finish and two state finalists!
Junior Luke Evans finished third in extemporaneous speaking, while senior Kasey Pestel concluded her Gator speaking career with a fourth place finish in persuasive speaking. For both Evans and Pestel, it was their first ever state final.
Also competing but just missing on a state finals berth was the duet team of Evans and Zach Johnson, which finished eighth overall in the state. Other Gator state efforts included Tawny Nekuda, 12th in persuasive; Miranda Hammerback, 14th in serious prose; Sara Lenox, 16th in humorous prose; and Lizbeth Orozco, 18th in informative speaking.
The Gators' eighth place team finish is the highest since a fifth place finish in 2003, and their conference and district runner-up finishes made this team one of the most decorated in recent school history. Congratulations!
