Another Successful Peer Retreat
The Nebraska FCCLA Peer Education Retreat was held on February 23rd in Kearney, NE at the Holiday Inn. Approximately three hundred and eight members, advisers, State Officers and Peer Team Officers were in attendance. The theme of the retreat was "FCCLA Fear Factor: Conquer Your Fears with Peer Education." The event was brought to order by Lauren Settje, State SSPOT Council Coordinator with a warm welcome for all present.
Money for gas cards was collected for the Rainbow House. Seven
schools contributed to the funds for over $800. Schools were
recognized for their efforts. The outstanding contributor was
Wisner-Pilger who raised $400 towards the Rainbow House Outreach
Project.
Susan Brown was an excellent keynote speaker. Her session titled, 'The Importance of Laughter, which was a great reminder for all to remember that humor and laughter are essential to a healthy balanced life. She reminded us that there is always a lighter side to any situation and that turning to negative things as a crutch to get through tough times is not ever the answer.
Members attending from Wisner-Pilger were: Stephanie Peterson, Stephanie Jones, Alicia Dominguez, Cameron Smith, Chad Hammerback, Miranda Hammerback, Becky Tobias, Sara Lenox, and Autumn OneHorn.
